Bachelor of Pharmacy Programs and Career Opportunities in India

You might be able to go several days without eating, but if you become ill and need medical attention right away, you must take medication. Pharmaceutical research can help with this.

According to the most recent government statistics, nearly 20,000 students in the nation graduate or earn degrees from more than 300 institutions each year. This article explores the range of pharmacy programs offered in India and the requirements for entering this expanding field of study.

Courses in pharmacy after the 12th

The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) are responsible for overseeing pharmacy in the nation. At different levels, there are "Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D), and PhD qualifications."

Candidates for the B.Pharm. program can be admitted with a 10+2 in math, biology, physics, and chemistry (PCM or PCB). Additionally, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 50% on the eligible exams. Several states mandate separate entrance exams for pharmacy admissions. Holders of a D.Pharm degree are eligible for direct lateral entry into the B.Pharm program in the second year.

The multidisciplinary nature of the pharmacy program varies depending on the institution. A four-year B.Pharm. program, however, generally emphasizes both inorganic and organic chemistry. Concepts related to  health education,  biochemistry, and human anatomy are covered in the program. Physical pharmaceutics, also known as pharmaceutical technology, is a topic covered in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program.

The uses, effects, and actions of drugs on the body (pharmacology); pharmaceutical biotechnology, which deals with methods used in the  pharmacy business and the creation and licensure of pharmaceutical and biotechnological drugs; and other components.

What is after a Bachelor of Pharmacy?

Many times, M.Pharm. students are required to select one of ten areas of specialization. Pharmacognosy, industrial pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacy practice, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance are a few of them. A six-year Pharm.D. program with an internationally standardized curriculum was introduced by PCI in 2008. If you hold a 10+2 diploma, you are eligible to enroll in this program.

Indian Pharmacy's Function

Aspirants in pharmacy programs have career options not just in India but all over the world. Research and development (R&D) is a critical area in the pharmaceutical industry where toxicity studies, product formulation research, and new medication research are all conducted. Modern, sophisticated technologies are used to conduct these analyses. For development and research goals, extremely competent technologists and scientists with an M.Pharm. or a PhD are in high demand.
